Grew up in a theatrical family, Sun Shi-Yong is the fourth daughter of the founder/head of Yi-Shin Taiwanese Opera Troupe, Sun Rong-Hui.  She has been immersing in theatre since childhood. Her handsome and elegant xiaosheng look, rich and clear voice, and sincere acting have made a positive impression on her audience, making her a “total package” performer. Sun Shi-Yong has been self-disciplined off stage and is willing to try out various roles.  She excels in going to great lengths to inhabit the characters she plays and gives each one of them a unique soul.  Furthermore, she gives depth/layers to her characters in different stories, breathing life into the characters she portrays. In 2014, she played Liu Xin, Emperor Ai of the Han Dynasty, who no longer had political powers but was still brave enough to pursue his true love in the show “Duan-Xiu.”  Her outstanding performance earned her a nomination for “Best New Performer” in the 25th “Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music.”
